Learn About This Location
The first residents of Spring Hill arrived in 1808. Albert Russell was the first to build a house there. It was the site of a Civil War battle on November 29, 1864.
It served as the site of the Saturn Corporation production facility from 1990 to 2007 before it was shut down. The plant reopened in 2008 as the assembly point for the new Chevrolet Traverse. In 2011, GM announced that it would be retooling part of the plant for use as an "ultra-flexible" plant which will be designed for rapid re-tooling vehicles of similar size.
