Today, Rocklin is best known as a suburb of Sacramento, but the city was once a hub for the California Gold Rush. Miners in the 1850s panned the streams that run through present-day Rocklin for any trace of gold, and later pulled granite from vast quarries that was used in San Francisco's Fort Mason and the California Capitol Building. Current residents enjoy proximity to work in the state capital while maintaining a high quality of life and sense of community in Rocklin.

The Community of Rocklin

Rocklin's agricultural areas that were once livestock ranches have been developed into neighborhoods, including the Sunset Whitney area that was once home to flocks of sheep and housing for ranch hands. Stanford Ranch, Whitney Oaks and Whitney Ranch are all master planned areas created during the beginnings of Rocklin's current population boom that began in the 1980s.
