Dynamic yet relaxed, Oregon's largest metro area has a vibrant downtown across the Willamette River and charming neighborhoods full of hospitable and eclectic people. It's a Mecca for for eco-activists, outdoor nuts, vegans, gardeners and dog-lovers, who all support the countless brewpubs, coffeehouses, knitting circles, and book clubs. Portland is a city with pretty neighborhoods and a small-town atmosphere, an up-and-coming attraction that has finally found itself. Racially progressive and diverse, it's also a great spot to plant roots, settle in and chill out.
