About this property

The seamless collaboration between found and made: progressive, modern, and industrial design meets historic preservation. In 1891, an industrious Vicksburg businessman, Joseph A. Biedenharn, bottled the first run of a widely popular new fountain drink called Coca-Cola. Using a bottle of his own design, the precursor to the iconic hobble-skirt design that came later, Biedenharn set in motion the first steps of a truly iconic brand. Around the turn of the century, James E. Crass moved his Coca-Cola bottling from a small Charleston, South Carolina plant to Richmond, Virginia. The business quickly grew and eventually expanded to 42 franchises across the Mid-Atlantic. In 1953, Architect Joseph J. Schlesser designed the Mid-Atlantic Coca-Cola Bottling building. It quickly became of the most prominent and significant buildings in the industrial neighborhood of Scott's Addition.

The Preserve Scott's Addition is joining two buildings built decades apart — a proper mix of historic architecture and modern design. The Found Building is the complete renovation of the landmark Coca-Cola Building. These top-line apartments retain all of their historic charms while providing residents access to today’s modern comforts. For example, some units have the original railroad track running through the living room.

About Richmond, Virginia

Learn About This Location

Civil war aficionados love Richmond for its central role in American history, but the city has unexpected delights aplenty outside of its historical significance. It is a southern city at heart, grounded in tradition but flourishing in the modern economy. Nods to the past blend seamlessly with cutting edge trendiness to give the city a pulse like no other place.  You’ll notice historic red brick architecture and sprawling front porches, once reserved for the wealthy and powerful, now reimaged as fresh, hip open concept dining, drinking and social spaces that welcome all to enjoy. Debutante balls are still held here – but women leaders are encouraged, celebrated, and thriving in Richmond as well. The mighty James river, once a crucial means of transporting goods between Jamestown, Williamsburg, and Richmond, now serves as a recreational mecca. In the summer, locals enjoy canoeing, fishing, kayaking, hiking, and swimming in the river.

Events and festivals take place year-round in RVA (as the locals call it).  From the Folk Festival to the Watermelon Festival to the Greek Festival, there’s something for everyone. The Richmond Mural Project and Arts in the Park make the city a top destination for art lovers. For foodies, the Fan District offers drool-worthy (and Instagram worthy!) culinary surprises around every corner. If you decide to wander outside of Richmond, you can reach sandy beaches, blue ridge mountains, peaceful lake shores, or even the excitement of Washington, D.C. in under two hours.

If ‘Virginia is for lovers’ (it’s been the state tourism and travel slogan since 1969), then Richmond is for lovers of living well. Find yourself at home in Richmond with National Corporate Housing.
