In 1883, the Great Tornado destroyed much of Rochester. With no medical facility at the time $60,000 were collected in donation, which were used to open St. Marys Hospital in 1889. Bush, Gerald Ford, and Ronald Reagan, were patients of the Mayo Clinic.
