Athletic and picnic areas lie toward the upper side of the park, and lower area access is provided by a system of trails including a floating boardwalk through a tidal marsh. This area also has historical significance, as it was the southern end of the Union position during the Bermuda Hundred Campaign-- Union earthworks can still be seen along the park's trails.
