Guangzhou, formerly Canton, is China’s most active transport and trade hub and the third largest metropolis. A sprawling city, Guangzhou has gleaming towers and leafy lanes, and its history as a port to the South China Sea has given it a diverse population and colonial background whose mix results in a cosmopolitan flair.
