Perhaps the best thing about Chennai are its people, who are passionately enthusiastic about their town; unlike in other places, the hustle and hassle is minimum. Recentadditions of cosmopolitan glamour, such as a host of luxury hotels, pristine boutiques, modern restaurants and even a few classy bars and clubs hosting guests through the night. The old Fort St George and thetangle of narrow streets and bazaars of George Town make up the historic center. Much of the best dining and shopping lies in the southern 'burbs of Nungambakkam, Thyagaraya Nagar, Alwarpet, Velachery and Guindy.
